The entire purpose of this website is to keep you from
getting skinned by unscrupulous people wanting to sell or
build you a drycleaning plant, and it is entirely FREE!

A group of ethical drycleaners got together and decided to help those contemplating entering the business - to know a little more about it before jumping in, and wanted to share some of the information they have learned from either buying a franchise, spending an entire lifetime in the industry or other involvement with the industry.

Know who you are dealing with. You can do this by making sure the franchisor has a physical address and can furnish references. It is good to get a list of cleaners the franchisor claims to have built and installed. Call the businesses at random and talk to the owner asking about the total cost, the quality of the equipment and installation. Also ask if the business has progressed like the seller claims it will. It may not be a bad idea to do a Google search for the individuals involved in selling the franchise. There is a lot of information that Google can furnish and it is all free.

The Good:

“In today's economy few people want to work for someone else as there is not the loyalty for employees as there has been in the past. Owning your own business is the first step towards being financially independent and can lead to an excellent income if done properly. There are some excellent companies that are supplying the industry with chemicals and equipment. A few are listed here.”

The Bad:

“There are some less than ethical people selling drycleaning franchises or installing turnkey plants. These people need to be avoided. There are a lot of stories about innocent and unknowledgeable people contacting a turnkey plant installer or a franchisor that have ended up with a substandard plant, incorrectly installed, with less than quality equipment and not state-of-the-art, and NO follow-up and inadequate, and frequently inaccurate training. This is a bad way to lose ones life savings. ”

Because of the fact that dry cleaning is a multi-billion dollar industry, many people have been enticed to join the bandwagon, whether it is in purchasing a franchise or an existing business. Some of them have significantly gained, but others have lost a lot of money. To help you, here are some FAQs you should take into consideration before you make any investment in the dry cleaning industry.
